Full-time Teaching Positions at University of Southern California

The University of Southern California Spatial Sciences Department, located in Los Angeles, California, invites applicants for one or more full-time teaching-track faculty positions in the ranks of lecturer, assistant professor (teaching), associate professor (teaching), professor (teaching), assistant professor of the practice, associate professor of the practice and professor of the practice, for the 2018-2019 academic year.

The Department, housed in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, provides world-class training for scores of working professionals, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students. Today, it offers a Ph.D. in Population, Health and Place, a Graduate Certificate in Spatial Analytics, an M.S. and three Graduate Certificates in Geographic Information Science and Technology, an M.S in Spatial Informatics, a B.S. in GeoDesign, a Minor in Spatial Studies, a Minor in Human Security and Geospatial Intelligence and several General Education courses.

The successful candidate will have substantive expertise and demonstrated excellence in teaching in the Department’s core areas of geographic information science and the accompanying geospatial technologies, and will be expected to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: mathematical techniques in GIS; hydrologic and sustainability science applications of GIS; maps and spatial reasoning; principles of geographic information science; spatial computing; concepts for spatial thinking; spatial databases; spatial data acquisition; spatial analysis; spatial modeling; geospatial technology project management; GIS programming and customization; remote sensing for GIS; cartography and visualization; web GIS; mobile GIS; geospatial data integration; and geospatial intelligence tradecraft.

Review of candidates continues until the positions are filled. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field at the time of appointment.
